HSK Standard Course
China’s Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) is the standardized national test used to determine the fluency of non-native speakers in Chinese and is used by all Chinese universities to assess the enrolment of foreign students and by a number of Chinese companies looking for foreign workers. HSK Standard Course is characterized by a humorous style, familiar topics and a scientific course design. Matching the HSK test in all aspects, from the content, form to the levels, it is a series of new-type course books embodying the idea of “combining testing and teaching, and promoting learning and teaching by testing”. It is suitable for the Confucius Institutes in different countries as well as other Chinese teaching institutions and self-taught learners.
The whole series is divided into six levels matching the HSK test, with one volume for each of Levels 1-3 and two volumes for each of Levels 4-6, totaling nine volumes. With a textbook, a workbook and a teacher’s book in each volume, there are altogether 27 books
New Practical Chinese Readers
New Practical Chinese Reader (NPCR) is a new series of textbooks designed for native English speakers to learn Chinese. It consists of seventy lessons in six volumes, covering beginning to intermediate levels, for three years of instruction. It has been compiled under the guidance of the new NOTCFL (National Office of Teaching Chinese as Foreign Language) syllabus and in consultation with the HSK Guideline. The objective of this series is to develop the student’s ability to communicate using Chinese through the study of language structure, language function, and related cultural knowledge along with the training of listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
